Helping My Son Heal

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of my son, Dre—many of you know him as Cris.

Recently, he was shot in a senseless act of violence. He wasn’t the intended target—just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thankfully, he survived, but he’s now in the hospital recovering and facing a long road ahead. Doctors have told us he’ll be out of work for 3 to 6 months, depending on how his healing goes.

To make matters more difficult, Cris doesn’t have medical insurance and won’t be able to earn an income during this time. He’s been living on his own for the past five years, working hard to take care of himself and his responsibilities. This situation has completely flipped his world upside down.

As a parent, it’s incredibly hard to watch your child go through something like this. Cris was hesitant to ask for help, but with the encouragement of those around him, he’s agreed to let us share his story.
