Support Sea Turtle Genetics Research on Hunting Island
Donation protected

My name is Beth Glass and I am the director of the Friends of Hunting Island Sea Turtle Conservation Project. We are raising money for the Genetics Project headed up by Dr. Brian Shamblin at the University of Georgia. They are no longer receiving federal funding for the project and are working exclusively off of donations.
This project provides so much important information on sea turtle nesting behavior and has also branched out into helping understand even more general behaviors. So much is known about sea turtles and their nesting habits that may have never been known without this work and important research. It takes $30 to run each sample and so the overall cost depends on how many nests that you have on your beach that year.
We would really love to raise at least enough to cover our nest samples for Hunting Island, if not more, to support this invaluable work! I will make sure that it is passed on with the money raised, that it came as support from our project and for our project’s genetic samples. Every little bit counts and I’m sure will be greatly appreciated by Dr. Shamblin and his crew! Thanks so much!
This is a sample of the information that comes from the genetic samples analyzed:
