Help Us Bring Medical Relief to Communities Affected by the Colombia Earthquake

My name is Dr. Alexander Rios, and I am an emergency room physician in the United States. I am also Colombian American. My family is originally from Colombia, I lived there when I was younger, and I have maintained close ties to the country throughout my life.

Following the devastating earthquake that struck Colombia this week, I could not simply watch from a distance.

Tonight, I am flying to Colombia to join the medical relief effort.

Over the next week, we will be traveling to affected communities, including Buenaventura, an area where poverty, limited resources, and difficult access can make recovery from a disaster even more challenging. Our goal is to reach people who may have limited access to medical care and provide assistance where it is most needed.

As an emergency physician, I hope to contribute what I can directly: medical evaluation, treatment, supplies, and support for families and communities affected by the earthquake.

Our Goal: $10,000

I am raising $10,000 to support the relief effort.

Because I am traveling directly to Colombia and will have boots on the ground, I will be able to see firsthand where the greatest needs are. Funds raised will be directed toward organizations and relief efforts actively working in the affected communities and may help provide:

* Medical supplies and medications

* First aid and emergency medical resources

* Food, clean water, and essential supplies

* Transportation of supplies to difficult-to-reach communities

* Support for local organizations directly assisting affected families

I will personally be in Colombia during the coming week and will share updates from the communities we visit so donors can see the work being done and where assistance is going.

Colombia is more than the country my family came from. It is part of who I am. I feel incredibly fortunate that my profession gives me the ability to help during moments like this, and I want to use that ability to serve communities that urgently need support.
