Dr. Peter Biar Ajak is a peace activist, scholar, and former political prisoner, committed to advocating for human rights and democracy in South Sudan. Despite being arbitrarily detained from July 2018 to January 2020, and later forced to flee a hit squad in July 2020, he remains steadfast in his beliefs and continues to advocate for positive change in South Sudan from his new home in the United States. Here, he has been recognized with prestigious fellowships. Despite the minor setback with the recent case pending against Dr. Biar in the United States, he remains a promising candidate to prevent South Sudan from plunging into a failed state under the leadership of President Salva Kiir Mayardit. Please join hands with Peter’s friends and colleagues in supporting Dr. Biar and his family. His presence is crucial during this critical juncture for the people of South Sudan. Dr. Biar is currently facing pending charges, including violations of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and the Export Control Reform Act (ECRA), to which he has pleaded not guilty.
