Support Dr. Marna Geisler's Recovery from Palisades Fire

Our dear friend, Dr. Marna Geisler lost her beloved family home in the Pacific Palisades Fire. Dr. Marna had only minutes to get out; she had looked out to see her neighbor's roof was on fire and, like so many others, escaped with the clothes on her back and her animals in tow. In a matter of hours, the fire took not just her home, where she raised her twin daughters, built her business and her non-profit (Student Action Volunteer Effort (S.A.V.E.) Myanmar), and created countless memories for the last 35+ years. While we are deeply grateful that Dr. Marna, her 3 dogs, and her parrot are safe, they all have been left displaced and facing the overwhelming task of what to do next.

I first met Dr. Marna 22 years ago next month, after the birth of my daughter, Franklyn. Dr. Marna was Franklyn and Hudson's pediatrician and had become our family friend. When Franklyn was 15, Dr. Marna invited Franklyn to join her on a medical mission to Myanmar, and she became Franklyn's mentor and soon changed Franklyn's life forever.

Anyone who knows Dr. Marna knows that she puts so many people before herself and would never ask for help from anyone. Dr. Marna has spent countless hours giving back to her community and helping people less fortunate, providing free medical help to those in need. Dr. Marna retired about 4 years ago, and it's now time that we give back to her. Please, if you are able, donate to help her in her time of need.

Dr. Geisler is a board-certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Nebraska, and earned her medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. She then completed her pediatric residency at the University of California, Irvine, and currently retired from California Kids Pediatrics in Los Angeles, California.

*Student Action Volunteer Effort (S.A.V.E.) Myanmar with a goal of providing much-needed medical care to the people of Myanmar and to invite students interested in the medical fields to help make a difference for those less fortunate. Medical missions were not new to Dr. Geisler; from 1990-2012, she had been on teams in Sierra Leone, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cuba, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka.
