It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news that our dear TH Rogers Art teacher, Dr. Junrui Garcia, lost her husband, Roel Garcia - also a beloved educator and author - last week.

Dr. Garcia has been a bright light in our children’s lives, bringing creativity and joy to every class as she introduces our kids to different mediums of art expression and history. A talented and dedicated artist herself, Dr. Garcia enriches the world around us through her masterful paintings, sand art, art videos, magazine editing, and even a fiction novel. You also know her as the woman behind the camera, leading the middle school yearbook team, making sure some of our kids' best moments are captured and shared. She is so passionate about making her gifts accessible to all that much of what she creates she offers at no cost - including her YouTube Channel, Art Horizons magazine and so much more (see links below).

Now, in her time of profound grief, we have an opportunity to show her the same care and support she so freely gives to others. We are organizing this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden of funeral and memorial expenses. Our hope is to allow Dr. Garcia the time and space she needs to grieve without the added stress of unexpected costs.

If you feel moved to contribute any amount — no matter how big or small — it will go directly toward helping her through this incredibly difficult time. More importantly, your generosity will remind her that she is not alone, and that she has a community standing beside her.
