Support Dr. Chris Karadimas' Road to Recovery

Hello, and on behalf of the Karadimas Family thank you for taking the time to consider donating to our dear father, and warm-hearted friend, Dr. Chris Karadimas.
Dr. Chris is in serious need of help at the present time due to recent surgical procedures, which have left him in one of the worst physical and financial conditions he has ever been in. If you ever had a chance to meet Dr. Chris you know that he is one of the most genuine, caring, loving and selfless people to exist.
Dr. Chris has been in and out of the hospital with a multitude of heart and health related issues since his quadruple bypass almost 20 years ago, undergoing two open hearts, and receiving multiple stents over time. In 2020, he suffered a stroke in the middle of a routine cardiac catherization. This caused significant deficits in his everyday quality of life, and making it difficult to carry on normal, everyday tasks, even walking. While this was difficult to overcome, he tried his best to get back to where he was.
Fast forward to December 2023 and a cascade of events occurred that would come to be his biggest setback yet:
- Dr. Chris herniated disc in his lumbar spine. This led him to an over week stay at the Cleveland Clinic during Christmas.
- Surgery was scheduled on February 9, 2024 to remove the pressure and place rods & screws in his lumbar spine and stabilize his back. This is commonly known as a laminectomy/spinal fusion/decompression of L4, L5, & S1.
- The surgery, while an initial success, was a short victory when he was told that the screws holding the hardware in the L4 vertebrae had "backed out." ANOHTER surgery needed to take place to fix the issue.
- On March 9th, the second procedure was completed, now fusing L3, L4, L5, & S1.
As you can imagine, two surgeries in as many months is difficult for anyone, let alone someone in his condition. To make matters worse, he suffered a slip and fall while undergoing rehab after the second surgery. Of course, he is unable to work in this condition, creating a significant financial burden.
Medicare only covered a portion of his medical expenses, and did not qualify the second surgery as a covered surgery. This means his rehabilitation and subsequent care has been all out of pocket. Since that time, he has accrued an insurmountable cost in medical expenses, which are only adding up as time goes on.
Dr. Chris will need to undergo extensive physical therapy in order to get back to the point of being able to function on his own. This will likely be some months, if not longer. We are hopeful, yet realistic.
We've created this GoFundMe to give Dr. Chris the help and support he needs for a full recovery and to get on his feet again, walking and functioning without assistance or the need for a walker. For years as a Chiropractor, Dr. Chris has given selflessly to his patients, community, friends and family. While we have all banded together to do what we can, the need has surpassed our means and we turn to others good graces for help to get this man back to being the vibrant, kind, and loving man he use to be. Thank you for your consideration.
