As many of you already know life has thrown us a curveball. On July 17th our Dad, Bruce, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (an advanced and aggressive brain tumor). He underwent surgery on July 19th to remove the peach sized tumor. The surgery went as well as could be expected and since then, Bruce has been recovering and going through rehab at the hospital in Chicago. The plan is to move Bruce to Colorado within the week and start his chemotherapy and radiation treatments at the University of Colorado Hospital. The road ahead will have its share of challenges, but we are confident that God will provide what is needed in the weeks and months ahead.
Bruce’s attitude throughout this all has been truly remarkable. He has told us countless times throughout this that he finds strength in the strength of others. He is extremely grateful for the blessings of family and friends that God has provided for him throughout his life. Those who know Bruce well understand the rock and support he has been to so many others throughout their life during critical times. We feel strongly that now is our time to step up and support him in a way that he has done for all of us countless times. Nevertheless, we know we can’t do it alone and will need the help of our larger support system.
We appreciate the many people that have reached out asking how they can help! Bruce will be living with Michael and Mele (and the kiddos and dogs). God has been present in such tangible ways through all of you. Bruce is the strongest dude we know and no doubt will continue to be a blessing and testament to this world in so many ways.
In order to support with transportation, medical, and travel costs across two states, our family is reaching out for support from friends to help fund some of the necessary things needed for this journey. With the move to Colorado, there will be a need to transport immediate family between Chicago and Denver. Our family deeply appreciates anything you can donate towards this cause in this time of need.
