Dr. Rubeliz “Bibi” Bolivar, a Venezuelan physician with a pending asylum case and legal authorization to work in the United States through 2030, was detained in McAllen, Texas, on April 11, 2026, while traveling to a scheduled asylum interview and complying with all legal requirements.
She is a frontline healthcare provider serving the Rio Grande Valley. Her daughter has since been released; however, Dr. Bolivar remains in detention.
Funds raised will help cover legal expenses and support efforts to secure her release and reunite her with her daughter.
My name is Maigua, and I know Dr. Bolivar through her volunteer work with Project IMG Latino (PIMG Latino) and as a member of Médicos Unidos Venezuela (USA).
Due to her current legal situation, she and her husband are unable to directly manage funds. For this reason, her father-in-law, Rolando Esteban Varela Burgos (a U.S. citizen), has been designated as the beneficiary. He will withdraw the funds and ensure they are delivered to her husband, Milenko Farias, to support legal and family-related expenses.
You can fin more details about her story here:
