My first experience with Chabad came when I transferred to San Diego Hebrew Day school for grades 5-8. My middle school years culminated with a class trip to New York where I sat in the rafters of 770, witness to the Rebbe's D'var Torah in Yiddish in a sea of black fedoras.
My adult journey with Chabad began with a move to Portland in 2001, and the purchase of a set of Tefillin. Later in 2017, I stepped closer to Chabad during a period of significant internal turmoil and recovery from self destructive behavior.
Most recently, an expanding benign brain tumor, successfully removed during a 9 hour procedure on 1/9/25, moved me even closer to Chabad. I am recovering well and hope to be cleared to return to delivering babies by May 1.
In preparation for the surgery I dedicated myself to the full revelation of my soul - Dovid Jacobs. During Shabbos Shemot, 8 days postoperatively, I decided to go with JLI to the heart and soul of the Holy Land: March 17–24, 2025.
I am asking you to help make this trip possible through your kind donation. Once I am back on my feet financially every penny donated on my behalf will be returned to Tzedakah in the form of my gift toward LA Wildfire Relief. To be clear: your gift today will send me on my healing journey to Israel 3/17-24, and later be paid forward to help those affected by the recent wildfires in LA - a double Mitzvah!
