Doug Magness - Healing and Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Hello,
I’ve known Doug Magness since I was 18 years old. This past Thursday night, Doug was in a terrible accident on his way home from work. His car was destroyed, but we are grateful he escaped with only a few injuries. One of the most concerning health issues, is a problem with his lung capacity due to a fractured sternum and the impact of the crash. He will be in the hospital for the next few days, and then the long process of healing at home will begin. We give God all the glory for sending His strongest guardian angel to protect Doug from even greater harm.

This does mean, however, that Doug will be out of work for several weeks as he heals. He now needs a replacement vehicle and help covering his monthly bills. Doug is a proud man who would never ask for help on his own, but after talking it over with LeeAnn, and assuring her that people love them and would want to step in, she convinced him to allow us to reach out on his behalf.

I want to share a few things about Doug, some of you already know, and some you may not, in hopes it helps you understand a little more about this humbling man and servant, and why we feel led to ask for assistance.

When I first met him, he was a musician with the Steve Long Band. What a group of road warriors they were back in the 70s! But even then, it was clear Doug wasn’t just another musician, he had a heart of gold and a deep passion for music that came from his soul. Over the past 47 years, I’ve watched this man grow in ways that are hard to even put into words. His light shines brightly in his work and personal life, and his giving spirit continues in all scenarios of his life. His laugh is infectious, and he always wears the biggest of smiles.

Many of you remember Doug from “back in the day” and have stayed connected over the years, while others may know him mainly through LeeAnn. He has played in multiple bands and has poured so much of his life into entertaining others. He works at Fort Bend Music and still teaches music lessons. He keeps pouring his musical gifts into children and adults alike, inspiring the next generation to carry the same passion for music that has shaped his life.

Perhaps the greatest transformation in Doug’s life has been spiritual. He gave his heart fully to the Lord and witnessing this change has been a blessing. He’ll talk about music with you any day, but he’ll talk about Jesus every day. He attends Saint Teresa's Catholic Church, sings in the choir, and is dearly loved in that community.

So, I ask you, think back on what Doug has meant in your life, or what LeeAnn has meant in your life, and please consider helping them during this unexpected season.

If you’re not comfortable using the GoFundMe platform, feel free to text or Facebook message me and I will provide their address, then you can mail a check directly. If you prefer Venmo, I have an account and will happily forward any funds to LeeAnn. (Because if you know Doug… well, you know he does not have Venmo! LOL!)

Our brother needs us.
Thank you for listening, for praying, and for giving as you are able.
God bless you all.
