This is a fundraiser for my dad, Doug Hogg, who was diagnosed with ALS in April of this year (2025). His first symptoms began in Sept/Oct 2024. ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It is terminal. People with ALS lose their ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe. The average survival time for people with ALS is two to five years from onset of symptoms. The average cost of an ALS patient's medical care is $200,000 per year.

Unfortunately, my dad has several other conditions that have made his ALS diagnosis that much more difficult. Chronic fatigue, fibromyalga and torn rotator cuffs have already contributed much to his immobility. He has partial use of his left arm now, virtually no use of his right arm.

My dad worked tirelessly all my life as an auto painter, enduring unrelenting heat and daily exposure to toxic chemicals to provide for our family. He was our repairman, handyman, auto mechanic, painter, builder, heavy lifter and bug killer. If there wasn't an obvious answer, he figured it out. He is/was a man of integrity, someone who could always be trusted. He would give you the shirt off his back and the last $20 in his wallet if you needed it. Most importantly, he was blessed with the gift of evangelism and has shared the gospel with countless souls.

My dad is on a fixed income and Medicare will only cover so much. Your donations will help with anything that Medicare doesn't cover: co-pays, medications, assistive devices, adaptive equipment, in-home caregivers when the time comes, etc.

If you can donate, thank you. If you can't, we would be grateful if you could share this fundraiser with others.

Thank you for your support and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
