Support Cordano's road to recovery

Tragedy strikes but this time the good guy is gonna win – with your help!

On Saturday, February 18th, around noon, Douglas Cordano was heading to his client’s home on Happy Valley Road in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was a beautiful sunny day, and as he pulled into the quiet gated community with the windows down, he had no idea what lay in hiding only moments away. He pulled into the driveway of his client’ home, rolled up the windows, paused to grab his gear, getting ready to head INSIDE to meet a longtime client and administer an energy and vitamin- packed IV, something he has done as part of his job thousands of times. No one had any idea that it would be Douglas who would need medical attention in only a matter of seconds.
In what may be the worst example of being in the right place at the wrong time, Douglas Cordano was shot by a stranger who was attempting to inflict as much pain as possible on Douglas’s client, the owner of the home on Happy Valley Road, but instead, in a tragic turn of events, it was Douglas who was met with a violent hailstorm of bullets through his driver’s side car window.
Seemingly out of nowhere, the man unleashed 8 rounds from almost point-blank range; 2 of these bullets struck Douglas in the head, and 3 hit him in the left arm, all before he even had time to get out of the car. In that instant, Douglas’s life was changed forever.
This was a hit, a deranged man’s attempt at a cold murder intended for another man, not for our sweet Douglas. No one would want to murder this kind of soul. It was a mistake, a tragic mistake that changed the trajectory of this life.
Miraculously, Douglas managed to exit the car and make his way up the stairs to the entrance of the home, where he collapsed at the door but was able to get the homeowner’s attention and call for medical help quickly and a quick hand to stop some of the bleeding.
When the medical staff arrived, they resuscitated Douglas and were able to get him into the intensive care unit. He was put into a medical induced coma and put on a ventilator to buy some time to reduce the swelling enough to operate. Douglas is expected to be in a medical facility for quite some time, and the costs to help save his life, then begin the recovery are expected to be significant. We, the friends and clients of Doug’s, are asking you to join us to help offset some of the expenses that he and his family are going to be straddled with through absolutely no fault of their own. Let’s come together and do whatever we can to help the good guy win during such an unprecedented tragedy.
About Douglas Cordano:
“He’s a standup guy, and he deserves to be taken care of after years of taking care of everyone else.”
Douglas grew up in Arizona, he became a father for the first time at the young age of 18; his oldest son Jacob and he had just finished a snowboarding trip, one that I am sure has a new importance in memory for both. Douglas is close to both of his older children (Jacob and Elijah) and his soon-to-be 10-year-old stepson. Just the day before this incredible tragedy, Douglas’s fiancé “Jen” picked up her wedding dress for their pending wedding, which had been scheduled for May of this year.
Doug and Jen had been building their life together for over 8 years, and they were so excited to have set a date and started what was going to be the next chapter of their life.
Doug has been in nursing for 13 years. Most of that time was spent working in the NICU with premature babies, which is when he developed his gentle touch with IV insertions. While he loved his time in the NICU, Fusion IV is the most fun Doug has had in his nursing career yet. In his free time, you’ll find him playing drums, snowboarding, working out, or gaming with friends and family.
