Some people say writing isn’t a fine art… we wholeheartedly disagree. Our students attend their Creative Writing courses on top of all their other traditional school requirements. Many of them even take classes over the summer, or extra classes virtually during the school year, in order to participate in our Creative Writing program.

We are having this end-of-year fundraising push to ensure we have the funds needed to provide scholarships for students to attend writing conferences and elite summer programs!

Your donations also make it possible during the school year for our students to attend workshops led by professional authors, to publish their internationally recognized student literary magazine, and for teachers to present college and career development experiences.

Why Are Donations Necessary?

Douglas Anderson consistently ranks in the top 25 high schools in the state! But as a public school, funding is tight, and many of the programs that make Douglas Anderson such a special place for students are fully funded by parents and generous contributions from friends, families, and members of our community - people just like you!

How Are Donations Used?

Your donations go directly to providing Creative Writing opportunities to our students - publishing fees associated with Elan Literary Magazine, honorariums for guest artists, college visits, career days, conference registration fees, and scholarships for elite summer programs - so that when our kids are recognized for their hard work, they can participate, regardless of their ability to pay.
