Support Doug Morin's Recovery Journey

Hello friends and family of our dear friend, Doug Morin. If you are lucky enough to know Doug, you are lucky enough. Doug is the kindest soul you could meet, who would do anything he could for anyone, a great cook, a great friend, and most of all, the greatest single dad one has ever seen! He lives and breathes for his kids - period! Like many people, sometimes pride can get in the way when times get tough from unexpected circumstances and we don't want to ask for help as that can feel like "being a burden." Doug is one of our Northside "friend basket" as we call it, and we don't let or watch friends "wilt" over the "basket." Here is where we are asking our community, family, friends, and beyond, that know Doug, to help "shower" him with love, support, and any donation(s) you may be able to give to help ease some financial stress caused by a very unexpected emergency surgery that has led to a lengthy hospital stay and where Doug remains today - as of November 1st, 2024.

Doug's story: In 2020, Doug contracted Covid from another family member who ended up passing from the virus. Doug was VERY sick for a week, lost his taste and smell, and has never fully regained either. However, since being in the hospital, Doug has had bouts of regaining his taste back here and there, which is good for a guy who loves seasonings! Doug has had Covid a total of three times and has struggled with trying to find out what exactly is wrong, doing test after test after test, not realizing his oxygen levels were low, which attributed to having no energy and having to call in sick to work frequently, resulting in using all of his PTO. Fast forward to now/about 6 weeks ago, Doug was hospitalized due to a ruptured hernia needing to have emergency surgery. A short time after having surgery, Doug coughed and that caused the incision to break open and unfortunately ended up getting infected, and Doug had to face another surgery. As if all this wasn't enough, he has had to deal with a great deal of swelling, making it hard to be mobile and some other complications from the surgeries. There isn't a timeline at this time as to when Doug will get out of the hospital yet alone if or when he will return to work. Anyone that knows Doug knows he always has the most positive attitude - he wants nothing more than to get home to his "little Emma." Being a single dad most of his life, he has one little girl left in the "nest" waiting for her daddy to get home, and it's breaking his heart to not be there with her. To have the worries about being in the hospital is one thing, but to worry about your young child you cannot be with daily and unexpected financial stress due to emergency health issues, is not something you can control nor do most of us think is "going to happen to us." Nobody likes to ask for help - that is where we as friends decided it was our duty to ask for him. First, we are asking if you would please pray for our friend Doug and his health - after that, if you are able to make a donation of any kind to help ease some financial stress for Doug as he is no longer receiving short-term disability, we thank you ahead of time and know that Doug thanks you from the bottom of his heart! No amount is too small and all is greatly appreciated! All funds will be used to help with his rent/bills and any special equipment Doug may need when he does return home.

Thank you for your support,
The "Northside Friend Basket"
