You may not know Doug Graham, but chances are you've seen his work.
When your kid hit a home run in high school, Doug was there and shot the photo.
When you and your horse won a ribbon in a point-to-point race, Doug was there and shot the photo.
And when the sky filled with terror on Sept 11, 2001, Doug was there and shot the photo.
After decades as an award-winning photojournalist, Doug Graham announced his retirement July 23.
One month later, he was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.
Now it's time for all of us to be there for Doug.
I met Doug in 1985, the year with both started at the Loudoun Times-Mirror newspaper in Leesburg, Va., and have remained close friends ever since. That's why I'm initiating this GoFundMe effort.
Doug and his family are facing a mountain of medical bills. Fortunately Doug has Medicare since he turned 65 in October, but already co-pays and deductibles are adding up. There will be more in the future, and there are always unexpected costs.
Doug is starting chemotherapy Tuesday, Nov. 4. Yes, that's Election Day.
We have two chances to make a difference that day. Please vote, then make a difference in Doug's battle with cancer. Thank you.
