Support Doug and Tatiana Through Crisis

As I’m sure all of you can agree, family is one of the most important things in our lives. We would do anything we could to make sure that our loved ones are safe, well cared for and always a top priority. Recently, one of my closest friends and business partner, Doug Marshall and his family have been faced with an extremely life-changing circumstance that will impact him and his family for the unforeseeable future.

Doug and his fiancé Tatiana have been hosting her mother and father (Eloiza and Jaime Teles) for an extended vacation at their home in Beaufort. Tatiana’s parents come to South Carolina often to visit them and their son Braden, and usually stay for a couple months at a time to be able to spend as much time as possible seeing the two of them and having quality time with their grandson, Braden. I received a phone call last week letting me know that Tatiana‘s mother suddenly suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. What started as just a normal afternoon turned into a medevac taking her to emergency care in Charleston. Over the course of the last week, things have been uncertain and the road to recovery currently is looking like it will take quite a long time.

Here is where all the help is so very needed. Since Tatiana‘s parents reside in Brazil, international insurance will only cover her mother during the time that she is in the hospital itself, and due to limitations she will not be allowed to continue to stay in the hospital that she is currently at for more than a few more days. Unfortunately, the international insurance also will not cover rehabilitation and aftercare, which she is so desperately going to need immediately upon being discharged from hospital care. There is not an option at this moment to transport her back to Brazil to get the insurance coverage and medical care that she needs, which is why I am putting together this GoFundMe. The financial responsibility will now follow primarily on Doug and Tatiana in order for them to have the proper stroke rehabilitation provided for her until she is well enough to be transported back to Brazil to be cared for under their insurance, which there is no certain timeline of how long that may be.

I know that Doug and Tatiana would not ask for any help themselves. That is why I am putting together this fundraiser in hopes that it will help bring down the massive cost that lies ahead for proper care of Tatiana’s mother and their family. As many of you already know, this has not been the only medical and financial hurdle that Doug and Tatiana have faced in recent years. The diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes (an incurable autoimmune disease) of their son Braden has also financially impacted their family. The constant care for both of these situations at the same is going to be tremendous and any help you can give will make the biggest difference. All fundraising will be going toward the cost of a specialized rehabilitation facility as well as in home care until she is able to be transported home.

Thank you to all who have taken the time to read this and are able to donate. Every bit helps more than you know. Also, if anyone happens to have more information on assistance that may be available for this specific situation, please contact me and I will pass it along to the family.
