Support Doubles, Melksham to reopen after devastating fire

Hi I’m Al and I’m the owner of Melksham’s new coffee pizza and record spot Doubles, which had taken Matt and I four months to build and had only been open for five weeks, with many saying we offered the best coffee and pizza in the area already, which has been an amazing experience.

Unfortunately in the early hours of Saturday morning a devastating fire occurred, causing extensive damage to equipment, decor and stock and preventing us from being able to trade.

Firstly we just want to say that everyone is safe and no one was hurt and thank you to the amazing fire services who got out here and prevented further tragedy - you are amazing!

Also thank you so much to every single one of you who have sent messages and offered support. It really means the world to us and has kept our hearts full through this difficult moment. We will be reaching out for some community action as soon as we are allowed to.

I have put every single penny I had and more into this business to get it open and looking the way it was and it was earning enough to pay the bills and the wages until this happened. Which now leaves us in a really difficult situation with ongoing costs like staff wages, rent and bills, not to mention the costs now involved in cleaning, repairing and rebuilding the space.

We do have insurance but it’s going to be a long time before that is even processed and we want to get open as soon as possible so we can continue to pay our staff and bills and get back to serving the community.

So we are reaching out, to see if you can support us, can you help us in this interim to get back on our feet and in return we will be here to support all of you for the future?
