In October 2023, Dorray’s life changed dramatically. She was admitted to the University of Penn Hospital, unresponsive and in a coma. Doctors diagnosed her with Stage 4 Kidney Failure, Lupus, bleeding on her brain, and limited mobility on one side. The outlook was grim, and her quality of life was uncertain. After five months in the hospital, Dorray was finally discharged, but her challenges were far from over. As the sole provider in her household, she found herself homeless, relying on the support of family and friends to secure a safe place to live and continue her dialysis treatments three times a week for over a year and a half.
On May 23, 2025, hope arrived unexpectedly. Dorray received a call from Greenville Hospital in South Carolina—a matching kidney was available, but she had to get there within hours. Using her last resources, she made it to South Carolina, and the transplant was a success. She was discharged on May 28, but her recovery requires her to remain in South Carolina for several months. During this fragile period, Dorray needs reliable housing and transportation for frequent follow-up appointments, as well as support for food and medication. Traveling back to Delaware isn’t possible due to her vulnerable health, and she remains out of work while awaiting Social Security assistance.
Dorray is a survivor—resilient, faithful, and passionate about caring for others, having spent her career as a caregiver. Now, she needs help from her community. Financial support will help cover her housing, medication, and transportation costs during this critical recovery period. Every donation and share brings Dorray closer to stability and healing, and her family and friends are deeply grateful for any support.
