Hi there! My name is Margaret and I am the niece of our loving Aunt Dorothea. If you don't personally know my aunt let me just give you a run down of her tenacity to survive whatever life threw her way!
Dorothea recently turn the big 60 on January the 22nd after doctors told her and our family she wouldn't live a long or fulfilled life...but she sure showed them!
Dorothea was born with Spina Bifida and several other medical conditions that caused her lifelong heath issues and numerous surgeries over the years. However, she didn't allow this difficult life journey to steal any joy from her or any of the joy she provided to others. Dorothea remained kind with a childlike joy that she eluded to everyone she came in contact with even with the weekly dialysis and numerous surgeries she's had to endure.
She recently had a major surgery that caused her to lose a significant amount of weight and take a tremendous toll on her health in which has lead to her being hospitalized this past week and placed on life support. The doctors caring for her have indicated to us that we need to begin planning to say our goodbyes and begin end of life planning.
Dorothea has been under the care of our aunt and uncle since our grandfather passed away in 2010 and both caregivers are on SSI with very limited funds to assist in giving Dorothea the farewell she deserves.
We are asking for any donations to assist our family in end of life expenses for our sweet angel Dorothea and appreciate anything you may be willing to give rather it be monetary or prayers, good vibes, etc.
Much love,
Margaret Mitchell
