Support Doris's Recovery After Leg Amputation

On September 15, 2025, Doris had to have her right leg amputated at 15cm above the knee. She is currently recovering from that surgery while waiting for insurance approval to receive an artificial limb. The amputation came as a result of an infection to the knee and patella tendon replacement that she had done in June 2003. The amputation surgery was unplanned and came about very quickly. On September 9th Doris was admitted to Rush Hospital after experiencing excruciating pain and discharge from the knee. The testing showed there was four different types of bacteria within the knee and that the best course of treatment, with the only one guaranteed to save her life, was an amputation. Surgery was scheduled for six days later. She has been off work since and is going to be off work until further notice. Although Doris has applied for disability through her employer, it has not yet been approved. My hope is to help alleviate some of financial burden this has caused, along with the added stress of losing her income until she can get back to work.
Thank you!
