Dori Phillips was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 months ago. After treatment, she had a setback 5 months ago and endured surgery. Radiation continues. The outcome is in the Lord’s hands.
She has used all accrued paid leave as of last week. To worsen their situation, her husband of 33 years had a heart attack 3 weeks ago and now cannot work.
Doug and Dori are a beautiful and giving couple. They give to extended family and have done extensive volunteer work.
When I suggested a GoFundMe, her response was that they should have been open to help long before now. Her statement broke my heart and confirmed their need.
Their young, newly married (9 months) son, Cody, resides in a different state. The same week as Doug’s heart attack, he was laid off his job as a graphic designer. Cody and his wife, Alex, are determined to move to Oregon to support his parents. These young people are currently selling their possessions to raise money to fund their journey. Besides the normal moving expenses, they are stuck with a costly housing lease.
Once Doug and Dori fund the kids' move, my hope is there will be enough money remaining to help them take a breath from their financial strain.
Doug and Dori have always been the ones doing the giving. Small and large donations multiplied would make a sizable difference in their lives. If you find it in your heart to help, no matter the amount, it will be greatly appreciated.
