Support Dori and Chloe After Devastating Fire
Donation protected
On the evening of June 9th, everything changed for Dori and Chloe.
Dori has touched thousands of lives in our community as a School Counselor in Douglas County and Carson City as well as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She has devoted her life to helping our community and now it is our time to rally around her and her daughter Chloe.
As Dori and Chloe were getting ready for bed, they had one more chore to do, feed their well loved pig "PW." As they were chopping vegetables they started to smell smoke, after investigating, Chloe walked down the hallway towards their bedroom where she saw flames from an electrical fire engulfing Dori's bedroom. Chloe grabbed their 4 pups and got them outside and called 911. Dori attempted to extinguish the fire and save their cat, unfortunately their cat did not survive the fire.
Dori sustained pretty bad smoke inhalation. She was transported to CV Health and later Barton Memorial for monitoring and carbon monoxide poisoning testing. Dori thankfully left the hospital Tuesday morning but her poor lungs will struggle with healing for quite a while.
Dori left her house in a night gown and Chloe in shorts and a T-shirt, both with no shoes. Their house is unlivable and the contents of their home are either destroyed by the fire, smoke or water damaged. Thankfully they have insurance and they have started the long and tedious process of rebuilding their lives which will likely take a year or more.
The amazing family, friends and community surrounding Dori and Chloe have been asking for ways to help. If you are so inclined we ask that you please donate to this Go Fund Me that will go directly to Dori and Chloe for all of lives essentials, housing, clothing, living expenses and all the things they do to know that they need yet.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Thank you!
