On Sunday September 21st while my cousin and her young son were asleep a devastating fire broke out in their Dorchester home. By the grace of God they made it out alive but in a matter of minutes everything they owned was gone.
The flames tore through their building in the middle of the night leaving them with nothing but the clothes they escaped in. The home they built the belongings they worked hard for and the sense of security her son relied on were reduced to ash. Now she faces the unimaginable challenge of starting completely over while trying to shield her son from the weight of this trauma.
The Boston Fire Department confirmed the scale of the blaze that displaced dozens of residents that morning. Families like hers are now scattered trying to figure out their next steps. Her biggest concern is not just replacing things it is restoring stability for her son so he can feel safe again.
This fundraiser is to help cover the urgent costs of rebuilding their lives:
Clothing and school supplies for her son
Food and daily living needs
First months rent and moving expenses for safe housing
Basic furniture and household essentials
She is a lifelong Dorchester resident a devoted mother and someone who has always given what little she had to others. Now she is the one in need.
We are asking our community near and far to help lift her and her child back up. Every donation no matter the size brings them closer to stability. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help them start again. If you cannot give please share this page so her story reaches more hearts.
Let us show this Dorchester mother and son that they are not alone in this fight to rebuild.
