My name is Ana Zapata-Foster and I'm trying to raise funds to help my mom, Dora Zapata. We are from a small town in South Texas. She had to have emergency surgery for an umbilical hernia that turned septic on June 26, 2024. After going to a local hospital called Valley Baptist Medical Center on June 25, 2024, she was sent home with a diagnosis of gastritis even though my mom had been vomiting and was in severe pain. We learned from the other hospital, Harlingen Medical, we took her to that the diagnosis given was incorrect and that my mom had sepsis and had to have emergency surgery to try to save her life. We were not given too much hope as the surgeon stated she would do her best but could not give me any reassurance she would survive. But thankfully she did! She was intubated for 5 days and was in the hospital for over 16 days. We were told she would need round-the-clock care at home for approximately 6 months, so I had to stop working in order to care for her. We had to purchase an adjustable bed and recliner to help accommodate her recovery. We had to build a ramp to her home and make adjustments to her shower. We have incurred so much debt and are in need of financial assistance, but without employment, I am unable to acquire a loan to help her and I, myself, have had to go delinquent on my bills as I am unable to work right now. We have struggled with asking for help as we know so many people out in the world are struggling financially as well, but we figured it can't hurt to ask. Any donation, even the smallest amount, is greatly appreciated. She is recovering slowly and we are just happy and feel very blessed to have her here with us. I couldn't imagine my life without my mom. Thank you and blessings!
