Help Don Finish His Clemency Application After 30 Years
My name is Laurie Moore, and I am raising funds to help my husband, Donald Moore Jr., complete his application for executive clemency in Tennessee. Don has been incarcerated for 30 years—since he was just 17 years old.
I have been married to Don for 14 of those years. Nearly half of his incarceration has been spent as my husband. During that time, I have watched him grow into a man of integrity, humility, and purpose.
You can hear directly from Don in this short message to supporters:
Don’s Story
When Don was 17 years old, he received a life sentence plus additional consecutive time. Although he has technically had parole hearings, the structure of his sentence has meant that he has never had a true opportunity to come home.
Over the past three decades, Don has worked tirelessly to become the extraordinary person he is today. Anyone who knows him would describe him as thoughtful, caring, wise, and deeply committed to growth. He has taken responsibility for his past, completed programs, mentored others, and dedicated himself to becoming a better man, husband, and human being.

This photo represents the gentle, steady person Don has become. Even behind prison walls, he has looked for ways to help, teach, and contribute.
Education and Achievement
Don has focused on real, measurable education. In April 2025, he earned his Paralegal Certificate from Blackstone Career Institute, and in December 2025, he completed the Advanced Criminal Law Certificate from the same program.
He paid for both programs himself by working two jobs inside the prison and saving his earnings over several years.
These accomplishments show his discipline, responsibility, and sincere commitment to building a positive future.

Sharing His Growth With Others
With my help, Don also writes regularly on his personal blog, where he reflects on accountability, growth, faith, and transformation. His writings give a window into the man he has become.
As Don wrote in one of his reflections when preparing for his December 2025 parole hearing:
“Through Growth and Evolution I have found peace… I no longer think as a child. I think as a strong, educated man.”
Where We Are Now
Don has been considered for parole twice—most recently in December 2025—but was denied both times. We are now in the final stages of preparing to submit an executive clemency (commutation) application to the Governor of Tennessee.
We are just 8 weeks away from completing this process—but we need help to cover the practical costs required to finish.
Why We Need Support
Preparing a commutation application requires consistent communication, records gathering, and administrative expenses. Don has very little family support and no remaining financial resources. I am doing everything I can to help him, but we cannot cover these final costs alone.
All funds raised will go directly toward the necessary expenses listed below:
Funds from this campaign will be received and managed by Erica Duggan, who is assisting with Don’s clemency application, and will be used exclusively for the expenses listed above.
How You Can Help
Every donation—no matter the size—helps us move one step closer to giving Don a fair chance to be heard.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this page and Don’s story is just as meaningful.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting us on this difficult but hopeful journey.
With gratitude,
Laurie Moore
