Support Don’s Battle Against Cancer – Third Diagnosis & Ongoing Fight

Hello all,

I come to you today with a heavy heart, asking for your support as my dear brother, Don faces another tough battle. Don has been a warrior for as long as we can remember, but cancer has struck him again—this time for the third time. And as always, he’s facing it head-on with the strength and resilience that only Don can muster.

Don’s journey with cancer began in 1993, when he was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He bravely fought through chemotherapy and radiation treatments and emerged victorious. But unfortunately, cancer returned to challenge him once again.

In February 2023, we lost our father to lung cancer that had metastasized to his bones. Then in September 2023, Don was diagnosed with lung cancer. It was a devastating blow, but he’s never been one to give up. Things got even more complicated when he had to undergo open heart surgery in December 2023. But Don kept pushing forward, never letting the setbacks break his spirit.

Now, in July 2025, the lung cancer has come back, spreading to his chest lymph nodes. His treatment plan includes radiation five times a week and chemotherapy once a week for the next six weeks. He had his first round of chemotherapy on Thursday, September 4th, and true to Don’s form, he had a reaction to the chemo drugs that landed him in the ICU. It’s been an incredibly tough few days, but he is showing his usual grit and determination.

Unfortunately, Don will be out of work until at least mid-November 2025 as he undergoes this intensive treatment. We are asking for your help to get him through this difficult time. Your generous donations will go toward:

• Living expenses while Don is unable to work

• Medical expenses for ongoing treatments and medications

• Travel costs for trips between South Bend and Chicago for treatment
