A VAN FOR DONNY

Dec 2, 2023 our world changed. A tick bit my husband and that was the beginning of what brought us here today.  He had to be sedated and on a ventilator from December 2023-February 2024, which as you can imagine affected his mobility and speech. He’s making such big improvements and despite it all has remained so strong and determined.

Those of you who know us personally know how hard it is for us reach out for help. We are so fortunate to have so much love , kindness and support through the difficult times , and we need this now more than ever.

Donny is now disabled and in a wheelchair. We have private insurance which does not cover transportation for him to doctor’s appointments, there are many and his care is crucial to his needs. He was denied Mainecare due to he makes to much money, Which is unbelievable when our income is limited for shelter, lights etc.

I have priced many that charge to pick him up 200 dollars one way from home to Portland. Which that price we can not afford. He needs to see respiratory, heart and neurology doctors. A 57 year old man that has worked hard all of his life , get Powasson Virus  from a tick and now struggle just to get help out there to go to his needed appointments. We can’t afford a wheelchair accessible van on our own and need help.

Donny is determined to get back to the life he knew before as much as possible. The strength and determination is endless. Having a wheelchair accessible van would be a huge help in his recovery journey !
