I have been debating for a long time about whether or not to do this, but several people have asked how they can help or donate and frankly, we’re at a point where we can really use the financial support.
Most of you know that in August of 2022, my husband Donny (only 47 at the time) was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). Since that time, he has endured 3 surgeries, 2 rounds of radiation (with another coming soon), and countless chemotherapy infusions, doctors appointments, and tests including blood work, x-rays, CT scans, and MRIs.
We currently travel from Delaware to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (~80 miles round-trip) for his appointments and treatments, which can range anywhere from an hour to nearly a full day depending on who he has to see and what all is being done. Surgeries can require anywhere from 2-3 days in the hospital.
I have good health insurance through work (which I pay quite a bit for out of my check), but copays can range anywhere from $30 to $100, plus a percentage out-of-pocket for hospitalizations. Donny is unable to work and is not eligible for SS disability currently, so we are living solely off my salary which is decent but not stellar by any means. Obviously, me getting a second job isn’t feasible with everything else on my plate.
All that to say, if you are able to help and want to do so, monetary donations will go towards:
• Paying off current medical bills
• Future medical bills and copays
• Gas, parking, food, and lodging (if needed) for appointments/treatments
Anything beyond the goal will go into savings for travel this summer and beyond. There is so much we want to do and see together in whatever time we have left. Thank you for your support.
