There are some things that you never expect to face, and watching someone you love battle cancer is one of them.

Donnie is technically my nephew, but our relationship has always been much more like brother and sister. We were raised together, grew up side by side, and have shared a bond that goes beyond the titles of aunt and nephew. To me he has always been my little brother, and watching him face this battle has been one of the hardest experiences of my life.

Two years ago, Donnie was diagnosed with rectal cancer. He fought through treatment with incredible strength and determination and was blessed to reach remission. Earlier this year, however, the cancer returned. He has now been diagnosed with stage 4 and has metastasized to his lymph nodes.

Even in the face of devastating news, Donnie continues to show remarkable courage. he is undergoing treatment and doing everything he can to keep fighting. As many families facing cancer know, the emotional and physical challenges are only part of the battle. The financial burden of medical treatments medication, transportation, daily expenses can become overwhelming.

As his big sister in every way that matters, I am creating this fundraiser to help ease some of that burden so Donnie can focus on his health, his treatments, and the time he has with the people who love him and his puppy, Zen.

While Donnie appreciates the love, prayers, and support being sent his way, responding to phone calls, text messages, and private messages can be overwhelming while he is navigating treatment and focusing on his health.
