As some of you may already know, Donnie was in a work-related accident in June 2024 where he broke his foot. What he thought was going to be an easy fix turned into months of being immobilized and more than a handful of surgeries which ultimately turned into an amputation of his foot.
While he was in the process of trying to recover, he unfortunately got an infection in his wound. By this time, Donnie had already had 7 surgeries. He had to make the life-altering decision to amputate the foot that was no longer salvageable. He has now had a total of 9 surgeries and has been immobilized and non-weight bearing for 8 months.
As you can imagine, this has put a huge strain on his finances. His employer had no insurance, so Donnie has not been able to be compensated and this whole time he has not been able to work. He has a 1-year-old daughter and a 11-year-old son who depend on him along with many medical bills and household bills to be paid. While his wife has been trying to keep them afloat, working two jobs, they are still struggling. Asking for help is never easy, Donnie is putting his pride aside and deciding to ask for help for his family. He has applied for disability, but they say it can take up to 200 days before he hears back. It will be at least 8 more months until he is mobile and able to work again.
During this time, if you would like to make a donation to the Harris family to help lift a little bit of the financial burden off of them while they are navigating their new normal, please donate to the GoFundMe, their CashApp ($mrssharris1122) or Venmo (@Sarah-Harris-915). Every donation big or small means so much!
Thank you for taking the time to read a small part of Donnie's story. All thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated ❤️
