Donna’s journey of healing, faith, and coming home.

On the morning of March 11 Donna Session suffered a right ventricular brain bleed that led to emergency neurosurgery, time on a ventilator, and weeks in the ICU. By God’s healing hand, Donna has pulled through. We are now on the road to recovery and need your support to continue using the tools needed to strengthen her health journey.

Over the past several months, our family has had the joy of witnessing remarkable progress in my mom’s strength, mobility, and confidence. Each small win — from improved balance, to clearer speech, to completing new exercises — has meant everything to us. These milestones have been made possible through her consistent speech, physical, and occupational therapy sessions at The Recovery Project, where the team has gone above and beyond to create a program tailored to her specific healing needs.

As she continues to regain independence, we have reached a point where insurance will no longer cover her therapy for the remainder of the year. Her weekly appointments (completed every Monday and Wednesday) now total approximately $400 per week out of pocket. These therapies are a critical part of her progress, and stopping them would significantly slow the healing she’s worked so hard to achieve.

In addition to therapy costs, we are working to make important safety and accessibility updates to our family home of 25+ years, ensuring she can move around with confidence and comfort.

We are also entering a new phase of caregiving. Since returning home in June, my dad and sister have been managing my mom’s care full-time while juggling their jobs and everyday responsibilities. While our community has stepped in for short periods when needed, we are now seeking to provide dedicated daytime caregiving support so my mom can receive consistent assistance, encouragement, and guided independence throughout the day.
