My name is Ashlee Nichols. My mawmaw, Donna Walker, had a tragic accident while cooking on Sunday, July 20th. Although all details are unclear, from what we have been able to gather, she was cooking with hot grease. It seems she grabbed the handle of the pot, which was extremely hot. As a reaction, she jerked and splashed the hot grease on her face, hands, arms, chest, and neck. She has second- and third-degree burns on 20% of her body. She was med-flighted to Lady of the Lourdes Burn Unit in Lafayette where she will undergo multiple surgeries. Her expected stay at this time is a minimum of four weeks.

I am creating this in hopes of alleviating some financial stress off of my grandparents. My mawmaw is a cancer patient who recently underwent extensive treatment at MD Anderson. She was only home for a few weeks before this tragedy occurred. I am hoping to help them get back on their feet once she is able to return home and heal. All funds will go to my grandparents' travel expenses, monthly bills, and medical bills/supplies. She has been through so much in this past year. She has beaten lymphoma and brain cancer within the past 10 months, so I know she can overcome this. We appreciate any and all prayers!
