Dearest Friends, Family, and Supporters,
Thank you for taking the time to look over this page. My name is Alina and I am creating this GoFundMe for my incredible mom Donna Nelson. She has been fighting a rare, late-stage leiomyosarcoma for a few years now. She has tried nearly everything under the sun--including chemo, immunotherapy, drug trials, natural supplements, specialized diets, and anything in between. Unfortunately, the cancer has continued to spread, and the doctor informed us she likely has less than 6 months left.
She is currently in the hospital recovering from emergency surgery in her neck on the newly found tumor that has been pressing against her spinal cord. This tumor ended up almost completely paralyzing her left arm and while our minds are always focused on the best possible outcome, as of right now she is unable to perform everyday tasks on her own. The direction things are looking is that she will need to move in with me once she is released within the next few days. This situation developed very suddenly and is incredibly difficult because she is the most selfless and independent person I know.
She continues to worry about others--even in her condition now. It kills her that she can no longer play her cello, which was not only one of her jobs but also a passion. Though she should be focused on herself, family, and friends, she still intends to keep working her day job once out of the hospital. I can't stand the thought of her spending the precious time she has left stressing about finances. While I am doing what I can for her, financially I am unable to provide the support she needs.
Any funds raised will go toward her living expenses, in-home help, comfort, medical needs, or whatever else I can do to help relieve stress for her. Help a woman who has given so much to others in her life, finally relax these next few months.
