Hi, my name is Leighann. I’m raising funds for my mom, Donna (age 64). In April of 2019, she was in a relatively minor car accident, and her chest hit the steering wheel. Over the next few months, unbeknownst to us, the leads in her defibrillator developed microfractures. In September of 2019, those microfractures caused her ICD to malfunction. The device believed her to be having a cardiac event and inappropriately shocked her 41 times over the course of 16 hours. This horrific and traumatic event caused her to go into heart failure. As her health declined, we began the evaluation process for a heart transplant, but she is not a candidate. Unfortunately her heart is too small to be a candidate for an LVad either. We're out of life-saving options and running out of time with her.
