Donna Cain

Hello everybody, this GoFundMe is for my twin sister Donna Cain. She is currently dealing with a very serious health issue and she is unable to work. When she gets out of the hospital, she's gonna need to focus on her health. She won't be healthy enough to work to support her finances and her 2 sons, 3-year-old Laurel "Nook" Jr. and 16-year-old Royce Jr.

Our sister, Donna, went to St. Joe's ER Sunday night (3/8/26) because she was vomiting blood. She called all of us the next morning to tell us she was there and why, but no one could've predicted the events that followed. Within 24 hours, she was admitted to the hospital, had a procedure to stop the bleeding using clamps on the artery in her stomach, then another procedure because the first one didn't work, numerous bags of blood and plasma, was intubated because she also had a bleed in her throat and they needed to prevent aspiration, then life-flighted her to St. Elizabeth Main in Youngstown. She was transferred to St. Elizabeth's Main ICU. The doctors didn't believe that the bleeding would stop with the prior procedures. Her abdomen looked like she was 9 months pregnant because of the liver cirrhosis and failure, and it has fluid around it. Her blood pressures have been extremely low and they had to put in an ART line to accurately monitor it.

Tuesday of this week, they attempted to turn down her meds to "wake her up," but she was in distress and agitated. So they turned them back up.

Fast forward to today (Thursday), her ammonia levels are elevated from her liver failure. So they put in an NG tube and the plan is to administer Lactulose to bring it down. They want to avoid hepatic encephalopathy. They also want to try and lower her meds again and do a breathing trial.

Donna has a long road ahead of healing. She also has 2 boys that count on her. Thank you all and God bless. Please pray for our sister and for her future health.
