I'm reaching out on behalf of my mother, Donna, who is going through a very difficult time in life right now. In the middle of June, she was given the news that there was a large tumor in her bladder that needed to be removed with surgery. Just two days later, she shockingly lost her job. The surgery had to be rushed because she was about to lose her health insurance. After the surgery, pathology results showed that it was cancer and she was diagnosed with muscle-invasive bladder cancer. This is cancer that has spread into the thick muscle wall of the bladder. It is high grade and aggressive which means it is more likely to spread to other parts of the body. It was caught early and appears to still be confined to the bladder.
As you can imagine, the emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming for both my parents. She has always been the strong one. She is a kind, strong, and hardworking person who has always put others first.
With no job and the inability to start a new job right now, the cost of cancer treatments, medications, travel to appointments, and essential living expenses, like mortgage and insurance payments, are quickly piling up. She is doing everything she can to stay positive and strong, but the stress is growing heavier each day. Bladder cancer is an aggressive disease that requires immediate treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, and ongoing medical care. Her treatment plan is in place with a great care team. She will undergo chemo treatments for the next 4-5 months. Then she will have a cystectomy- which is removal of the bladder. After that, there will be immunotherapy for a year.
Unfortunately, the financial burden of these treatments is overwhelming, and it is taking a toll on her ability to focus on healing.
Your donations will go directly toward:
Medical bills and treatment costs
Transportation to and from doctor appointments
Basic living expenses, groceries and necessities
My parents finally tied the knot after 26 years together. Her job was going so well. They were both turning 50 this year. This was going to be a great year. Everything was so well aligned, but life is so unpredictable and full of moments we can't understand. Now, she needs our help. We have set up this GoFundMe to raise funds to cover medical costs, treatments, and daily living expenses during this challenging time. Any amount you can contribute will make a world of difference and help alleviate some of the financial burdens my parents are facing.
We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate financially, but simply sharing this campaign with others would mean the world to us. Every prayer, message, and act of kindness will help our family stay positive through this difficult journey.
It wouldn't truly be coming from us if we didn't end with Be Good, Do Good, God Bless, Go Bills!
With gratitude,
The Grandits Family
