Support Donell's Heart and Healing Journey

If you know Donell Cackowski, you know she’s the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back without hesitation. She’s spent her life showing up for others, with compassion, kindness, and unwavering support. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.

Just a few weeks ago, Donell was rushed to the hospital and spent two weeks there due to an enlarged heart and fluid buildup around her heart and in her lungs. The situation was serious, but thankfully, after intensive care and treatment, she’s back home recovering. However, the road ahead is still long.

A few weeks ago, when I first mentioned the idea of starting a GoFundMe, Donell immediately said no, she didn’t want to ask for help or be a burden to anyone. That’s just who she is: humble, selfless, and always thinking of others before herself. But the truth is, sometimes even the strongest people need a little support. So I’m doing this anyway—because she needs it, and because in moments like this, we show up for the people we love, even when they’re too proud to ask. Donell has been unable to work for over three weeks and faces significant medical bills, including a large out-of-pocket maximum from her insurance. On top of that, she still has everyday living expenses, house payment, groceries, utilities, that don’t pause for health crises.

We’re starting this GoFundMe because Donell shouldn’t have to fight both for her health and her financial stability. She’s always been there for her friends, family, and community, now we’re asking for your help to be there for her.
