He has been our friend since high school in the Philippines and is in need of financial support for kidney transplant.

Hello, my name is Donald Gomez. My wife, Rowena, and I have been blessed with three beautiful children: Bryce, 8, Brent, 5, and Brigz, 2. All boys.

Everything was okay until I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease last February 2021. I have to undergo a life-saving hemodialysis three times a week while working full time and raising a family.

I have been listed for a kidney transplant both at UCSF and UC Davis Kidney Transplant Centers. However, the wait time for both centers is anytime between 5 to 10 years. It is a very long wait time, and I need a new kidney as soon as possible since my kidneys are functioning at less than 1%. Receiving a life-saving kidney transplant will not only give me a better chance of living a healthy life with my family, but it will also decrease my risks of complications from long-term hemodialysis.

Fortunately, I could get a kidney transplant sooner in the Philippines. Currently, I am here in the Philippines as a compatible donor has been found. All necessary tests have been completed, and I have received approval from the Board of Ethics to proceed. This September, I will undergo a planned kidney transplant surgery. Unfortunately, my medical insurance will not cover the expenses, and I do not have enough funds to pay for the kidney transplant and post-surgical care. I am currently on medical leave from work to take care of the medical application process with very limited financial resources. The cost of the transplant surgery is about $50K which includes hospital fees, professional fees, recipient and donor laboratory tests, and clearances.

So, here I am, reaching out from the bottom of your good heart for your assistance both financially and spiritually to make my kidney transplant journey a success. The newly transplanted kidney will give me a chance at a better life, more time to spend with my wife and kids, and the ability to provide for my family.
