Rougue Morgan and myself, Dona Macy, are seriously financially struggling after Hurricane's Helene and Milton. The floodwaters from the last storm not only brought destructive rain water but also backed up all the sewer water into our home, ruining almost everything on the floor we owned that couldn’t be moved to safety.

We live in evacuation zone A in Tampa which is always first to be evacuated so we listened and packed up our most valuable things we could pack into a car. When we came home, we found out that the hurricane prep we did wasn't enough to stop the flood waters from pushing up through our sewage and into our home to mix with the water already inside.

Our renters insurance doesn't cover flood damage, something alot of people aren't able to afford here in Florida, our property managers are doing the best they can but also are out of options for us.

Moving to a new home, and replacing all of our damaged furniture may be a part of upcoming expenses.

Even though we have lost so many personal belongings, we are grateful for what we still have. We have each other and our two pets, Miss Lady and Scooby Doo.

All of the groceries in our fridge rotted while the power was out and we were forced to throw out almost all of our furniture, (minus our bed that was elevated.) We have been fortunate enough to have some financial help through this rough time but we are still running short for monthly expenses since we have gotten back.

My small business was severely affected due to the fact that the vending equipment I use to sell at markets was completely submerged in water. We also lost bookshelves, desks, dressers and clothes. Rougue lost a lot of his tools, paint and painting equipment, electronics and personal belongings such as shirts and all of his shoes except the ones he has on.

These funds will help with groceries, gas, rent, replacing destroyed furniture and moving expenses and security deposit in the future.

We can't afford to replace everything we've lost so we're hoping our friends and those in the Tampa community we call home, will help us by donating to our diminishing funds. We sincerely appreciate all the people who have reached out thus far who have offered physical help and moral support to us through our difficult time.

We love and support all those who have also lost so much from this hurricane and I know we can all help each other and grow together through it. We hope to support other people in this as well.
