For more than 20 years, our grandparents have been a familiar part of the community in Los Angeles selling homemade tamales on the corner of Maple Ave and E 28th St. This small business has been their only source of income and the way they have supported themselves through years of hard work.
On Saturday June 20th 2026, at around 9:00 AM, our grandfather, Arnulfo Hernandez, was struck by a car. Our grandfather suffered a broken hip, fractures to his foot and ankle, and other serious injuries that will require extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation. At his age, these injuries make recovery especially challenging.
Selling tamales was their only source of income so you can imagine the financial hardship this has caused.
We are raising funds to help cover medical bills and rehabilitation expenses, and lost wages during his recovery.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with friends, family, and the community would mean the world to us. Thank you for your support, prayers, and kindness during this difficult time.
Thank you,
The Hernandez family.
