On June 17th, our family received the news of our beloved mother and grandmother’s passing.
Siblings Vicki and Don, along with Nathan (Don’s oldest), took an emergency flight to the Philippines on June 19th, to say their final earthly goodbyes and to lay their mother/grandmother to rest.
Nathan started to experience stomach pain just days before their flight, but brushed it off in the hopes that it would pass.
As the days passed, the pain and discomfort increased until it became unbearable and they had to take Nathan to the emergency room in the early morning of July 3rd.
Upon arriving, they discovered that his appendix had ruptured and his blood work showed an infection, requiring an emergency surgery in the Philippines.
This surgery (and necessary recovery time) meant that they would miss their flight home to CA on July 6th, would have to extend their stay, and need to rebook their flight (no flight credit or refund would be offered from United Airlines).
Nathan had his surgery on July 4th and as of now, it is unknown how long they will need to remain in the hospital nor what recovery after the hospital stay will look like. We have started this GoFundMe campaign to help ease the burden of medical and travel costs,
Any contribution is greatly appreciated, as are your prayers. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. We are looking forward to having them both home as soon as possible.
