In case you haven’t heard, Don recently began an unexpected and intense battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). After feeling unusually tired and short of breath, a visit to the doctor revealed severely low blood and platelet counts and a dangerously high white blood cell count. He was rushed to the ER and diagnosed with AML.
Although he was briefly discharged, his condition worsened, and he was quickly readmitted. Don is now receiving aggressive treatment at UW Medical Center’s leukemia unit — the same unit where his daughter works as a nurse. Her presence, along with the incredible UW care team, has brought much-needed comfort during an incredibly difficult time.
We want to be clear: our family is not asking for donations. That said, we’ve been deeply moved by the number of people who have reached out asking how they can help. In response to those kind offers, we’ve created this GoFundMe page for anyone who wishes to support Don with medical-related expenses and other unforeseen costs during this journey.
You can follow his progress on this Caringbridge page.
