Support Dom's Run to make a Doggy Difference

K-9 Rescue Remedy is a dog rescue and training organisation based near Battle in East Sussex. K-9RR is very fortunate to have amazing volunteer trainers working with us. One of those amazing volunteers is Dom Maskell who is running the Hastings Half Marathon on Sunday 23rd March 2025 to raise much needed funds for our dogs.

The credit crunch has caused a huge increase in the number of dogs being surrendered. Sometimes their families cannot afford to feed their pets or pay for vets bills. When we can, we try to keep dogs in their home by providing food and helping with paying vet bills. For other dogs, their families are being moved into temporary accommodation and landlords will not allow them to take their dogs with them.

If we can, we try to find foster carers for the dogs so, that they can eventually be returned to their families, but that situation is rare. Mostly the families have to make the heart-breaking decision to surrender their dog for adoption.

While these dogs are with us we pay for our dog's food, for general veterinary bills, neutering, parasite treatments and inoculations. Sometimes we have to place dogs into normal boarding kennels to keep them safe and looked after until we find them forever homes. All of this is expensive but it is so worthwhile.
