My name is Diana, and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of a special young man and his family, who are part of our chosen family. Dom was involved in a terrible car accident on Friday, July 19th while driving home in a bad storm. He was t-boned by a truck traveling 55-65 mph. Dom was found face down in the passenger floor. First responders needed to use the jaws of life to extract him from the car. When they were able to free him from the car, he was unconscious, seizing, and immediately intubated. It was too stormy out to be life flighted that evening, so he was taken to the local hospital, stabilized, and then ground transported to a trauma hospital, where he remained on life support for two days. He is suffering from a traumatic brain injury/bleed. Every day he is making small improvements, but will be needing several weeks of inpatient physical, occupational , and cognitive therapies to help him learn to sit up, walk again, and improve both orientation and memory issues, in hopes to regain as much of his normal functioning as possible. Dom is a first time expectant dad and so excited for his boy to be born in November. Getting well enough to be able to care for his baby is his top priority.

While it is a complete miracle that Dom is alive, he has a long and painful road to recovery ahead of him. Even lying in the hospital with his mind full of unknowns, his personality is still shining through and he is cracking jokes and trying to make others smile and laugh. During a time when he should be thinking about himself and his own healing, he is of course thinking of his family and the impacts this tragedy will have on them. He would do absolutely anything in the world to protect and care for his loved ones, and now he needs the same care and support.

Dom is facing mounting medical bills. The family will also have to account for weeks his parents will need to take off work to be by his side during this difficult time, gas money to and from the hospital, hotel expenses to stay close to him since the hospital is an hour and a half from his home, and care for Dom once he returns home. He has major worry about going back to work soon and needs to know that his family will not be suffering financial hardships so that he can take the time and put his full focus on recovering.
