On Saturday, October 18, our world changed in an instant.
That morning, my son Dominik woke up unable to move his arms or legs. He had fallen asleep in his chair and collapsed when he tried to stand, hitting his face on the desk. We rushed to the ER, praying it was something simple — but tests revealed something far more serious.
An MRI showed that Dominik’s spinal cord was severely inflamed from the neck down. He was rushed into emergency surgery for two herniated discs, and a lumbar puncture was done to look for possible causes. But even after countless tests, the doctors still haven’t found clear answers.
Since that day, Dominik has remained in the hospital, fighting through pain, treatments, and uncertainty with incredible courage. He’s completed multiple rounds of plasmapheresis, and while his movement hasn’t returned yet, there is hope — his latest MRI showed that the inflammation has gone down!
Now, we’re preparing for the next big step: rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, one of the best spinal cord rehab facilities in the country. This will be a long road, but we believe this is where healing will truly begin.
As a parent, watching your child go through something like this is heartbreaking — but we’re clinging to faith and hope. We know God is still writing this story!!
