Dominick Powell is loved by everyone who knows him, and for good reason. At 24 years old, he carries himself with a quiet generosity that is increasingly rare, and that those around him have come to count on.
On the night of March 18, 2026, Dominick was riding an e-bike home from work when he was struck in a hit-and-run at a downtown intersection. The exact circumstances of the collision remain unclear; Dominick remembers approaching the intersection, and then waking up to the aftermath. He is now recovering at a rehabilitation center following multiple surgeries, with a lengthy and demanding recovery still ahead of him.
The impact left Dominick with a broken fibula and tibia in his left leg requiring a titanium rod, fractures in his right leg and foot, a spinal fracture, and a serious head injury.
He was admitted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center on March 18, where he remained for nearly two weeks, and was then transferred to the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute on March 29 to continue his recovery.
He is currently beginning intensive treatment to regain his ability to walk. Once released from the rehabilitation center, he will need mobility equipment, and a variety of other assistive accomodations. His hospital bills have not yet fully arrived, and the complete financial picture of this accident is still coming into focus.
What is already clear is that Dominick is handling all of this with remarkably good spirits. He is focused on his recovery, improving every day, and is thankful to have his family and network to support him.
Dominick is facing a number of immediate and ongoing expenses as a result of this accident:
- Lost wages
- Hospital, surgery, and rehabilitation
- Ambulance and emergency transport
- Out-of-pocket and uncovered medical costs
- Medications and medical supplies
- Appointments with specialists
- Transportation
- Meals
- Accessibility and mobility equipment
This effort is intended to ease those pressures, so that Dominick may direct his full attention to healing. Whatever you're able to give is genuinely appreciated and goes directly toward supporting his recovery.
