Support Dobby's Battle Against FIP And Live A Full Life

Hi, my name is Dobby, and I need your help.

I’m not even a year old yet, and I’ve already been through more than most cats ever should. I’ve always been a playful, sweet baby — the smallest of my litter, but the one with the biggest heart. My parents have loved me since the day I was born, and I’ve grown up surrounded by my four siblings, who thankfully haven’t gotten sick like I have.

A little while ago, I started feeling… different. I stopped eating as much. I felt tired all the time. My temperature kept rising and wouldn’t go down. My parents rushed me to the vet — again and again — trying to find out what was wrong. After over a thousand dollars in testing and medication, we finally got an answer: the harmless feline coronavirus I had mutated into something deadly.

I was diagnosed with FIP — Feline Infectious Peritonitis, a disease that most vets in Texas still say is fatal. Mine is the dry form, and I might even have neurologic symptoms, meaning the virus could be attacking my brain. I’m waiting for a brain scan to see if there’s damage, but my parents can’t afford to hospitalize me — it costs too much.

I’ve been fighting fevers up to 105°, and my body is tired. I’ve been lethargic and down, barely wanting to move or play. But even through all of that, I still eat the tuna my mom gives me. I still purr when I’m pet. I still want to live. I’m just a baby — I still have so much life left to enjoy.

There is a medication that could save me — molnupiravir, an antiviral that’s been helping FIP cats around the world survive. But it’s expensive, and my parents have already used everything they had just trying to find out what was wrong with me.
