Hi friends,

I'm reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, DJ Wood — a kind, resilient, and talented human who is currently facing some of the most difficult circumstances life can throw at a person. But more than shelter, he’s searching for connection, community, and the chance to finally thrive among people who truly see him.

DJ is currently houseless while waiting on a disability case related to a debilitating mental health disorder. He’s doing his absolute best, working part-time in Paducah, KY, but the reality is that what he earns isn’t enough to cover stable housing — not even close.

Despite the struggles, DJ is a bright, creative soul. He’s an improviser, a stand-up comic looking to begin again, and someone who finds light through laughter and connection. He’s not just trying to survive — he’s trying to live somewhere he can actually *thrive*. That place is Louisville, KY.

Louisville offers more than just a roof over his head. It offers community — a support system of friends and creatives who know him, love him, and uplift him. It's a city where he won’t feel alone. A place where he can heal, grow, and keep showing up with the humor and heart that make him who he is.

We’re trying to raise **$5,000** but starting at $3,500 to help cover:

- First and last month’s rent + deposit for a safe place to live

- Basic furniture and essentials

- Transportation and moving costs

- Emergency funds for food, mental health needs, and survival while awaiting disability assistance.

DJ isn’t asking for a handout. He’s asking for a chance. A chance to build a life with dignity, safety, and the support we all need to keep going.
