This past weekend, my sweet boy Django started having some mild swelling in his right ear. I kept an eye on it and hoped it would go away. It didn't seem so bad at first. Over the next few days the swelling increased dramatically. His entire ear was balloon like, flopped over, warm to the touch, causing him severe pain, and looked like it was going to split at the seams.
I called the vet early this week and the earliest appointment was today at 1130.
Django has an ear hematoma caused from aggressively shaking his head due to fleas and allergies. The small vessels in his ear ruptured and his ear has been filling with blood and is now infected.
He was also diagnosed with a heart murmur 3 years ago that was minor and went away. It has now returned and is much worse than it was originally.
Django also has epilepsy that was diagnosed 7 years ago when he was just one year old. His seizures are roughly 2-3 times a month but the severity has increased as well as the duration of each seizure with the most recent one last week lasting a whopping 8 minutes.
Django is having surgery today on his ear. He needs tons of medication and tests. He cannot be put under general anesthesia due to his epilepsy and heart condition. His meds also require several tests to be done before he can start them.
Times have been hard since I had my own life threatening medical emergency this summer. I myself almost lost my life and was off work for almost 3 months and returned very slowly.
On top of that financial blow, all 4 kids have birthdays this time of year and Christmas is right around the corner.
Being able to afford Django's medicine and procedures is taking a huge toll.
If anyone is willing to help my sweet boy even by just sharing this, then please do! He's so worth it
